A 23-year-old woman was injured after being hit by a car driven by her ex-boyfriend in the tourist city of Bonito, in Mato Grosso do Sul. Security cameras recorded the moment the man drove the vehicle toward the victim. The impact pinned her body against a wall, which was knocked down. The woman was rushed to the hospital and did not suffer any fractures.
The suspect fled the scene of the crime. He is being sought and will likely face charges of attempted femicide. According to the police, the victim stated that she had a three-month relationship with the man. Jealousy is believed to be the motive for the attack. At the time of being hit, the woman was talking to another man.
Data from the Violence Against Women Monitor, from the Department of Justice and Public Safety of Mato Grosso do Sul (Sejusp), shows that in 2025, 12 women have been victims of attempted femicide in the state. Another six were killed by ex-partners in the first quarter of this year. In the last ten years, 346 femicides have been registered in Mato Grosso do Sul, representing the death of 35 women every year between 2015 and 2025.
