March in Brazil is known for its heavy rainfall, but climate change is making this reputation even stronger.
Meteorologists from Climatempo report that on March 18 alone, nearly half of the expected rainfall for the month occurred. There were 62.4 millimeters in just six hours, while the forecast was for 153 millimeters over 31 days.
On that day, 80 flood points were detected by the Civil Defense. In one of them, trash bags were swept through the streets.
The Fire Department had to respond to 20 incidents, including fallen trees and traffic accidents.
